The Best Inside Sales Blogs from VanillaSoft in 2016

Telemarketing software provider Vanilla Soft recently compiled a list of their ten best blogs from the first half of 2016. Here are some of the most important insights that salespeople and managers alike can learn and apply to their own organizations.

Making sales calls and having conversations is obviously a large part of working in sales, one aspect that is often overlooked is leaving voicemails. Leaving a clear, concise, and well-organized voicemail can go a long way to generating interest and converting a lead into a potential client. Salespeople should have a clear plan for their voicemail before making the call, and leave a brief but articulate and informational message that has a clear call to action at the end.

In addition, those in sales should learn how to combine the power of voicemail and email to create a strong follow up to their original cold call. Email can be a great tool to piggyback on to a voicemail and leave more detailed information and include links that are easily actionable. In addition, utilizing email allows salespeople to create another point of contact between themselves and their leads, and allow for more direct communication.

Finally, those making cold calls should make sure to view their script as a vertical buildup, rather than a horizontal checklist that they merely need to get through. Sales calls are meant to highlight a need, illustrate how a company can provide a solution, and then broker a deal. This is a building process where each step is connected to the one preceding it, and should be treated that way.
